Positive: We rented a small flat close to the sea, which can accommodate 2+3 guests, in a nice location overlooking the village of Santa Caterina with view to the sea. The house hosts about 5 such flats, that belong to different families as holiday residences. Our hosts also had the adjacent flat, as their own holiday home. There are pine trees around the house, giving some shade and there is also a bit of breeze - there is no A/C in the flat, but you can still breathe. During high-summer you may expect temperatures above 36C, but you can keep the door open in the night (insect nets installed). The kitchen is small but well-equipped and you also have a nice terrace just outside. The sleeping rooms are rather small, but shady and cozy, good for a siesta. The beach nearby can be reached on foot (the parking is paying at all times), but was not really our favorite. There are other beautiful beaches not very far. Close by there is a bakery (Panificio Murtas), which is well-known around: I recommend going there early, on-foot, at 7, to have the full array of products and not to have to await your turn. Fresh bread every day, except on SUN. Every WED there is a small market near the Pharmacy, and there is a very small fruit shop close to the beach. But for real shopping you need to drive to Riola Sardo (15 min.). The house was quiet, especially during the days when no one else was there, but I suppose it can get busy if all 4 other owners are there. What we loved even more than the location were our hosts - S.ra Rossanna and S.r Hugo: it is safe to say they were, in our experience, the friendliest and kindest hosts we ever had, with the singular exception of an incredible host, also in Italy (Bergamo). As such, we can confirm that the people in Sardegna are generally very friendly and helpful. S.ra Rossanna even shared homemade sweets&pizza with us, cooked for us at some point, S.

Negative: The bathroom is indeed very tight and rather old - but will be refurbished in the near future; as with all good things it takes time. The kitchen is also rather small, but during the day you can eat outside. You need to pay attention on rigorously respecting the calendar for the rubbish removal, according to each day (bio, plastic, cardboard), since the bio-waste comes every 2nd or 3rd day - by that heat you do not want to miss it. You really must have a car to get around. If all owners are there, it will clearly be less intimate. You need to cater for yourself fully, which in the end, is not that difficult and you can get tasty fruit, vegetables and fish nearby. You need to drive up on a short portion of dirt-road to get to the house (40m), but it is doable, even with a rent car; on the other hand, you have your parking space near the house.
